OBJECTIVES: The sponsor supports international dialogue,
understanding, and respect through cultural exchange and nurtures the
individual talents of the artists and scholars in Asia and the United
States. An example of the type of program the sponsor provides support
for may be to research contemporary art, meet artists and curators,
and create new work while participating in an artist residency program
in the United States. Priority consideration is generally given to
individuals who have not previously received funding support from the
Asian Cultural Council.
ELIGIBILITY
All organizations requesting grant support from the ACC must have
U.S. 501(c)3 or similar non-profit status, such as registration as a
non-governmental organization (NGO). Please note that commercial or
for-profit entities are not eligible to apply. If an organization does
not have non-profit status, fiscal sponsorship is required. U.S.
501(c)3 public charity or international equivalent must sponsor the
project. If applicable, a signed letter of agreement with the fiscal
sponsor will be necessary in order to be eligible for ACC
support. The sponsor's geographic areas of interest are:
Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, China, East Timor,
Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Macau,
Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore,
Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, and the United States of
America.
FUNDING
Since the program resources of the Asian Cultural Council are
focused on fellowship awards to individuals, the Council's grants for
organizations are usually modest in size and are generally awarded to
support the participation of individual artists, scholars, and
specialists from the United States or from Asia in project activities
administered by the applicant organization. The sponsor does not fund
multi-year requests. (msw)
