PhD Studentships School of Business and Management

The School of Business and Management, Queen Mary University of London,
invites applications to be put forward for PhD Studentships, commencing
September 2013. We welcome applications in the following areas:

*Queen Mary Studentships are open to suitably qualified candidates from the

The Project

'An Antique Land; Geology, Philology and the Making of the Indian
Subcontinent, 1830-1920'

This scholarship is being offered to work on the Leverhulme trust funded
project 'An Antique Land; Geology, Philology and the Making of the Indian
Subcontinent, 1830-1920',

a research project directed by Dr Pratik Chakrabarti at the School of
History, University of Kent.

The Scholarship

The scholarship is part of three year project funded by the Leverhulme
trust at the School of History. This scholarship is available to UK, EU and
overseas students and will cover tuition

rate) plus a maintenance bursary of approximately £13,590 per year.

The scholarship will be offered for one year in the first instance,
renewable for a maximum of three years, subject to satisfactory academic

Applicant Specification

The scholarship competition is open to postgraduate research applicants who
have applied for or are applying to the School of History for entry in the

Candidates must hold a master's degree (merit or distinction) in a relevant

Application Process

- A covering letter explaining why they are interested in the project
and why they believe they would be well-placed to carry it out. This letter
must include the applicant's full name, address, telephone number and email
address.

Where available, the School will take *two academic references* for each
scholarship applicant from their application for study. If an applicant has
not requested *two* *academic* references in their application for study
the covering letter should also include the names of *two academic* referees
and their contact details (postal address, e-mail address, and telephone
number).

If the applicant has ideas about how s/he would like to modify the project
outline, s/he should explain this also in the letter. Candidates will
neither be necessarily advantaged nor disadvantaged by proposing such a

Sebelumnya saya mengucapkan selamat atas kelulusan dengan predikat cum laude-nya.
Saya jadi malu niy...dari jaman kuliah S1/S2, ga pernah dpt cum laude. 
Oke, saya jawab ya, mas, meskipun agak
keluar konteks apply master degree.

 Q1.
1. Apakah semua beasiswa dan universitas yg kita tuju mengharuskan adanya proposal riset dan melakukan komunikasi dgn calon supervisor riset/profesor? Monbu, Fullbright, Chevening, DAAD, Nesso, Ausaid, Erasmus Mundus.

Ans: 
Saya penerima monbusho, tapi bkn utk master degree. Tapi paling ga, bisa kasih gambaran krn sepengetahuan saya, apply beasiswa, entah utk S1/S2/S3, langkahnya standar. Di kasus saya, saya membuat proposal penelitian yang format penulisannya sudah disediakan (di download). Kalo saran saya, siapkan saja proposal penelitian yg mas sudah idamkan utk dilakukan in future. Masih secara garis besar juga ga masalah, karena nanti, supervisor/professor pasti akan mengajak diskusi tentang calon riset mas. Untuk komunikasi dgn supervisor/profesor, saya dulu melakukan komunikasi setelah dinyatakan diterima oleh universitas di jepang.
Tapi, lagi2 ga ada salahnya juga kalo mas udah mulai mengontak mereka dari awal tapi tentu saja dengan semua "bekal" yg mas punya, salah satunya adalah propsal riset.

2. Wah, berarti dengan kata lain, mas mau nyontek dooooong...:)). becanda2. begini, pada dasarnya, proposal riset itu ya seperti skripsi mas itu. Udah lulus dan bikin skripsi kan? Nah, kalo proposal, ya versi singkatnya. Format penulisan ya dimulai dari Introducing, background, objectives, method, expected result (karena masih berupa proposal). Ada beberapa beasiswa yg udah punya template/form proposal, seperti monbusho yg saya ikuti misalnya. Kalo ga ada ya ikuti aja tulisan di skripsi anda, kan itu format standar juga sebenarnya. Masa` ga pernah ada mata kuliah metopen sih?
Bahan proposal? Banyak2 baca tulisan2 yg sesuai dengan tema riset mas. Cari keunikan untuk penelitian mas dibandingkan dengan riset yang lain. Ga usah terlalu muluk2, yg simple2 aja. Ntr takutnya, kalo muluk2, begitu sampe sana, si supervisor tertarik, mas malah kebingungan sendiri utk mengerjakan.

Q3:
3. Berapa persen kemungkinan terjadinya perubahan tema riset yang kita ajukan pada saat tahapan aplikasi beasiswa (korespondensi dgn prof)? Karena menurut info, sesampainya di sana (misalnya, Jepang), riset yg kita buat sekarang bisa jadi diterapkan bisa pula tdk, dan kita akan menerima tema riset baru yang menjadi problema nyata sang profesor.

Ans :
Ga usah takut untuk ganti tema riset karena perubahan tema itu pun pasti akan ada dan selalu didiskusikan kok, dan pastinya ga akan jauh2 dengan education background. Kemungkinan berubah bisa 50%-50%. Penyesuaian pasti akan terjadi, ga akan sesuai 100% dengan proposal yg telah mas siapkan. Seperti yang terjadi di saya, tema riset saya ga berubah, tapi supervisor saya ganti dgn yg lbh sesuai tema riset. Dan itu pun diberitahukan jauh sebelum saya datang ke jepang.
Penelitian saya juga mengalami improvement di method, tapi basic research-nya, tetap.

Q4:
4. Last question a little bit different, adakah beasiswa Prancis yang 100% taught in english?

sekedar info mas, saya sudah pernah coba untuk apply ke salah satu universitas di new zealand untuk alih jenjang dari d3 ke s1 di Otago University, alhamdulillah diterima, namun dengan banyak pertimbangan tidak jadi saya ambil, karena tetap harus menglang perkuliahan selama 3 tahun

Kebetulan saya sedang tinggal di Perth. Silakan cek gumtree au untuk melihat rent rumah atau house share. Disitu lengkap dengan alamat rumahnya dan harga. Untuk harga bervariasi tergantung lokasi dan fasilitas. Kawan saya tinggal di daerah Shenton park, dekat dari kampus $300 per-dua minggu. Atau sewa satu rumah di daerah Victoria park, sekitar 30-45menit dr uwa, kurang lebih $1000 per-dua minggu.

Bisakah di share pak, bagaimana mendapat scholarship offer dari Uwa?

Saya Beni Mardhotillah Ikrar, saya mau menanyakan perihal beasiswa pascasarja profesi psikologi di Indonesia... Saya sangat berkeinginan sekali untuk melanjutkan sekolah pascasarjana. sekarang saya bekerja di suatu perusahaan swasta di Jakarta. Berarti, apabila kita melamar melalui universitas (via designated university), apakah dapat dimulai dari sekarang?
Apakah boleh uni kita memasukkan aplikasi ke NIIED bulan desember 2012?
