I had this happen with my log files when I had versioning turned on and a workflow on the same list.

Subject: [sharepointdiscussions] SharePoint 2007 - My content database growing overnight to 100+ gbs

Hi,

I am running into deep trouble with the content database. The content database grows to 100+ gbs over night. However when I checked using the SharePoint Space Monitor tool, it shows the size of all the content is just 20+ gbs.

I have even stopped the indexing service.

My content database recovery mode is set to FULL and configured for database mirroring for DR.

Not sure what is causing the database growth. Any help in this regard is much appreciated.

Thanks,
Vijay

Thanks for the pointer Liz.... But would it take 100 + GBs
Is there a way to reclaim the space from content database?

Check your audit table. Do you have auditing turned on anywhere in your sites? run the ststadm command to truncate the table. Do some analysis ahead of time and truncate chunks of days instead of all at once

Thanks for the pointer. That was a nice suggestion..
My auditdata table is storing almost 4 years of data and is taking 90 + GBs of data.

I have had the best luck attending local SharePoint User groups and asking them for input. They will hopefully know local places, and keep the money in your community.

at the very minimum you should at least have your Sharepoint Farm admins install the Sharepoint 2010 Productivity Hub (SP1)...at least until you get a trainer.

MOSS 2007 - Multiple users accessing an excel file

Posted by: "Carl Cross" carl.cross@bluecross.org.uk   carl851611

Thu Jan 26, 2012 12:41 pm (PST)

I have some Excel 2003 files in a document library.

I would like to find out how I can set it up so multiple users can all
access the file at the same time.

At present we have staff checking in and checking out the file, but I
would prefer multiple access to the same file

Is this possible with Excel 2003 file and a SP MOSS 2007 site?

Thanks

Have you looked into Excel Services (assuming you have that available on
your farm)? I'm not sure if it'll give you everything you need (especially
in 2007), but it's worth a check.

I am desperate now! Meeting Workspace Issue

Please look at the following attachment which illustrates my problem:

1. Currently a user clicks the recurring meeting item in the calendar and
is taken to:

2. The actual Calendar Item.

3. Near the bottom of the page, there is a link to get to the Meeting
Workspace.

4. The user clicks this item and is then taken to

5. The Meeting Workspace for this date.

Is is possible for:

1. The user clicks the recurring meeting item in the calendar and is taken
to:

2. The Meeting Workspace for this date.

?

My boss is getting on my case about this and I can't find any references to
it. If this is not possible, I need to know so that I can let him know.

Do we need to upgrade to SharePoint 2010?

I do have have SharePoint designer, is there something I can do here to
make this happen?

I know that there are a number of articles on the web having to do with how you connect to an Oracle DB from SharePoint. I'm wondering if anybody on this list has actually done it? How difficult is it? Was there a particular article you used or did you have a consultant do it for you?
Did you use BCS or did you use a .NET Connectivity Assembly? How long did it take to implement? Any other comment?

Hello All,

SUGGESTIONS WANTED:

Working at a new clients site and they want a 3rd party project management
solution for SharePoint basically ALL (Keyword here) the functionality of
the MS Office Project Tool without leaving SharePoint, open to suggestions.
We are MS Partner so solution should also be (Bamboo was recently kicked of
the list as supported). Tool must be intuitive and user friendly (as
friendly as possible at least) any and all suggestions are welcome, so let's
hear them (How about you Paul any suggestions, Also are you still living in
Ohio?).

Also same client is interested in doing something similar to
Constant Contact so if anyone has seen a 3rd party overlay for SharePoint
that will provide user friendly solution for this would be great as well,
thanks.

Dear Shane,

Am just wondering if you are talking about Project Management Solution, So why you don't think about MS Project Server.

It'll give you all you need for this kind of solution and also the best part its a MS product and integrated smoothly with SharePoint.

Best Regards,
Khaled

Tool must be intuitive and user friendly (as
friendly as possible at least) any and all suggestions are welcome, so let's
hear them (How about you Paul any suggestions, Also are you still living in
Ohio?).

Also same client is interested in doing something similar to
Constant Contact so if anyone has seen a 3rd party overlay for SharePoint
that will provide user friendly solution for this would be great as well,
thanks.

Thanks again,

I would think the closest you're going to get to your MS Project tool is MS
Office Project Server which integrates very well with SharePoint. Even then
though, not everything can be done from the web interface, some items
require the Project client.

Sounds like your client has a case of SharePoint-is-the-silver-bullet-itis!
Good luck!

We're using a combination of Project Server (Microsoft Project) and Team
Foundation Server. Both are integrated with SharePoint.

And yes, I'm still in Ohio.
