Online Sound Control of Hearing Instruments based on Multimodal
User in the Loop Feedback
Hearing instruments like hearing aids, cochlear implants but also audio
devices are
typically adjusted for optimal sound perception adjusted to the listening
condition.
Only limited and/or inconvenient control is given in the listening
condition itself. This
PhD project focuses on new multimodal user interaction strategies to
control hearing
instruments as well as audio devices. Preferably, the strategies
investigated will
unobtrusively put the user in the control loop. Brain computer interfaces
are one
option to do so.
The project is contractually linked to the University of Oldenburg and will
be carried
out at the Fraunhofer research group Hearing, Speech and Audio Technology
(www.idmt.fraunhofer.de/en/hsa) which offers an attractive scientific and
application
oriented environment in an international team of scientists and access to
state-of-theart acoustical equipment and labs.
Duties of the candidate:
� To use, develop and investigate multimodal intended (e.g., gestures)
and unintended (e.g., BCI) human machine interaction strategies to
control sound of hearing instruments and audio devices
� To design, carry out, and analyse subjective listening tests with
normalhearing and hearing impaired test subjects
� To prepare scientific manuscripts
Desired experience of the candidate:
� Master degree (or equivalent) in psychology, physics, electrical
engineering or a related field
� Excellent grades and preferably a solid background in psychoacoustics,
audiology, human machine interaction and/or signal processing are
required
� Familiarity with scientific tools and programming languages such as
MATLAB or C, as well as good English language skills are desirable.
� Research experience in any of the mentioned fields and a strong
interest in interdisciplinary and application-oriented work is desirable.
Applications must include a letter of motivation directly related to this
PhD topic, CV,
a copy of the university diplomas/transcripts and � if applicable � a list
of publications

Oldenburg, Germany is seeking to fill the position of a PhD student in
the PhD Program "Signals and Cognition". This full-time position is
available for initially 3 years, with a monthly stipend amounting to
min. 1500 � (net).
The title of the envisaged research project is "Multi-microphone speech
enhancement using brain computer interfaces" (SigCog 05). In many speech
communication applications, such as hearing aids and teleconferencing
systems, the recorded signals consist of a mixture of different speakers
and background noise. Although in the last decades several
multi-microphone speech enhancement techniques (e.g. fixed and adaptive
beamforming, Multi-Channel Wiener Filter, blind source separation) have
been developed, they all rely on pre-defined assumptions about the
target speaker. E.g. in hearing aids the target speaker is typically
assumed to be in front of the user, whereas in teleconferencing systems
it is assumed to be the loudest speaker. In this PhD project we will
investigate brain computer interfaces to control multi-microphone speech
enhancement techniques, in order to enhance the target speaker to which
the user is attending. This PhD project will consist of developing
methods for decoding the neural signals to find out to which speaker the
user is attending and integrating them with multi-microphone speech
enhancement algorithms.
The Department of Medical Physics and Acoustics offers an attractive
scientific environment in an international team of scientists and access
to state-of-the-art acoustical equipment and labs. We are seeking for
candidates with a Master (or equivalent) degree in electrical
engineering, biomedical engineering, computer science or physics, who
have excellent grades and a solid scientific background in signal
processing, acoustics and/or pattern recognition. Familiarity with
scientific tools and programming languages such as MATLAB or C, as well
as excellent English language skills are required. Research experience
in any of the mentioned fields and a strong interest in
interdisciplinary and application-oriented work is desirable.

saat ini sy sedang mencari yyasan-yyasan penyedia beasiswa bagi siswa-siswi yg ingin melanjutkan studi ke luar negeri , sy sudah mendapatkan 1 yayasan yaitu "Eka Tjipta Foundation" , setelah sy melihat persyaratan yg diberikan sy bisa memenuhinya namun di yayasan ini terdapat ikatan kerja yaitu setelah studi penerima beasiswa harus kerja di Indonesia min selama 5 thn. saya bukannya tidak mau kerja di Indonesia tp sy tidak ingin setelah studi langsung kembali lg ke Indonesia krna sy berencana untuk kerja d Canada untuk mencari pengalaman terlebih dahulu .

Assalamualaikum kak, nama saya Aulia, sekarang kelas 3 SMA dan berniat melanjutkan kuliah di APU-Jepang
Adakah disini yang pernah mendaftar di Asian Pasific Univeristy ?
Seminggu yang lalu, saya mendatangi APU information session.
Dan saya mendapatkan informasi mengenai biaya pengurangan pendidikan (Tuition Reduction Fees). Disamping itu, ada biaya yang harus dibayarkan ketika Enrollment Procedure Fees yang harus dibayarkan ketika mendaftar di APU untuk mahasiswa first year, terutama biaya hidupnya yang kurang lebih 900,000 yen.
Kira-kira, berapa besar kisaran biaya tersebut dalam rupiah?
Apakah biaya tersebut termasuk mahal untuk ukuran biaya hidup di bukan-kota-besar di Jepang?
Bagaimana kualitas APU dibandingkan dengan universitas dalam negri?
