Hey Paul,
Are you still teaching? I want to go to a "Great Branding Class" not the average bear mediocre stuff, I went to your mindSharp Dev training, which was the best, and I also attended a branding online you did for MS which was AWESOME a while back. Just wondering if you still did that or not and have anything coming up?
Thanks for your suggestions as well, Michelle C. for ICC also wanted me to say Hi.
Thanks,

Sorry for the late reply, to answer the re-occurring why not project server (especially since I am a Microsoft solution specialist), I am not the project sponsor, just the PM first and for most lol, but even so the team that is looking into it is not a tech savvy group but there organization is designed to be very project heavy, they treat there clients work as projects. I have looked at the Brightwork's and EPM live solutions and they look very well designed and geared more towards the solution route we will go. Again, they also are approved as MS partners so that is a big bonus thanks to all of you for your replies, I can almost gaurantee I will be sending a shopping list of 3rd party tools as this client has some pretty high hopes as to using SP as a platform for there organization, we have already discussed Nintex for WF, News Gator, MS Office WebApps, MS Productivity hub, and so forth... Again Thanks to all.

I'm afraid I'm not teaching anymore. I went back into consulting full time in the real world. I do a little training once in a while as part of a project, but nothing public anymore. But thanks for the nice words and fond memories.

SOAP request returns data + error
Posted by: "Alcock, Bruce G." balcock@ou.edu brucealcock

We have a php program that is issuing a SOAP request against a SharePoint list.
This was working in SharePoint 2007. We migrated the site to SharePoint 2010 and now we get more than we want:
We get an XML file with the data, but then we also get:
</listitems></GetListItemsRe sult></GetListIt emsResponse> </soap:Body> </soap:Envelope> <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf- 8"?><soap: Envelope xmlns:soap="http://www.w3. org/2003/ " xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.05/soap-envelope org/2001/ " xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.XMLSchema- instance org/2001/ "><soap:Body>XMLSchema <soap:Fault> <soap:Code> <soap:Value> soap:Receiver< /soap:Value> </soap:Code> <soap:Reason> <soap:Text xml:lang="en" >Exception of type 'Microsoft.SharePoi nt.SoapServer. SoapServerExcept ion' was thrown.</soap: Text></soap: Reason><detail> <errorstring xmlns="http://schemas. microsoft. ">The system cannot find the file specified. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070002)<com/sharepoint/ soap/ /errorstring> </detail> </soap:Fault> </soap:Body> </soap:Envelope>
Any suggestions:?

Querystring Variable in List View?
Posted by: "frontierrog@yahoo.com" frontierrog@yahoo.com frontierrog

In SP2007, I am trying to use a querystring variable in a list view. Is it possible to do this? In the UI or code? As an example, what I am trying to do is display all invoices for a certain customer in a view. How can I accomplish that?

Are you using Designer for this? You can create a parameter that gets its
value from the querystring param and then filter your XSLT data view based
on that.
There's more flexibility in the SPD approach, but if you need to go with
out-of-the-box components, you should be able to use a querystring filter
web part and connect it to the list view web part.

Oh. Well, I've never tried to filter a list view in Visual Studio, but if
you can do it in SPD, I'm pretty sure there's a way to do it in VS.NET.

Ask Me about not saving under user profiles
Posted by: "needtoknowbasis" john_teddy2000@yahoo.com john_teddy2000

So I receive an email from a user stating that whenever he tries and add terms to his " ask me about" on his profile and hit save, it doesn't save it. I went ahead and tried it on my profile, system user profile, it doesn't work. I double checked the properties under The user service app, and the user properties, and everything looks normal.
any ideas? suggestions as to where to look and what to do?
thanks

The AskMeAbout user profile field uses a managed metadata term set for
storing its values. So there could be several issues.
1 ) If a managed metadata service app isn't available you won't be able to
edit the field.
2) if a specific term set has been chosen the user may not have permission
to add anything to the term set. If so an admin must pre-populate values
for the user to pick from or they won't be able to edit the field
3) if a specific term set hasn't been chosen but permissions on the default
term store have been modified the user may not have the ability to enter new
items. See #2
Those are the things I would check first.
