Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research associate to work on a
project funded by the US Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity
(IARPA) that aims to engage and enhance cortical processes associated with
adaptive reasoning and problem solving, with Drs Nick Yeung and Roi Cohen
Kadosh. This post is available as soon as possible for 1 year in the first
instance and for up to 3.5 years.

Candidates must hold a PhD degree in psychology/neuroscience or a related
field, have a strong background in conducting and running EEG experiments,
and a proven track record of peer-reviewed publications. Prior work on
projects involving cognitive training, and combining of EEG with other
modalities (e.g. fMRI, brain stimulation) and strong statistical background
is desirable. Applicants are expected to be able to demonstrate that they
are both self-motivated and able to work collaboratively.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 midday on 9 January 2014.

The Public Affairs Section of the Embassy of the United States in Jakarta
is pleased to announce the call for applications to the 2014 Study of the
U.S. Institutes for Student Leaders on "Global Environment Issues."

Program Description

The Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSI) for Student Leaders are intensive
short term academic programs whose purpose is to provide groups of
undergraduate student leaders with a deeper understanding of the United
States, while simultaneously enhancing their leadership skills. The
five-week Institutes will consist of a balanced series of seminar
discussions, readings, group presentations, and lectures. The coursework
and classroom activities will be complemented by educational travel, site
visits, leadership activities, and volunteer opportunities within the local
community. The Institutes will include an academic residency component of
approximately four weeks and a domestic study tour of approximately one
week. During the academic residency, participants will also have the
opportunity to engage in educational and cultural activities outside of the
classroom.

The Institute on Global Environmental Issues will be hosted by the
East-West Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. The four week academic residency will
explore the role that environmental policy has played in the economic and
political development of the United States. The Institute will use
experiential learning techniques to expose participants to current themes
in the field, including natural resource management, sustainable
development/sustainable agricultural practices, food security, ecotourism,
energy generation (new and traditional forms), and water management and
treatment. The issues will be explored from numerous angles: local
grassroots activism and civic initiatives, market-oriented approaches, and
federal government policies and regulation.

Finally, the Institute will explore environmental issues in the context of
a globalized society, and draw comparisons between the United States and
the participants' home countries. Students will also have the opportunity
to leave the classroom to meet with community leaders, and representatives
of non-profit organizations.

The academic residency will be complemented by an educational tour that
will take participants to another area of the U.S. where they will meet
with local, state, private, and nonprofit organizations working in the
field. The Institute will then conclude with a 3 day program in Washington,

Desired Qualifications

The participants are expected to be highly motivated first through third
year undergraduate students from colleges, universities, and other
institutions of higher education, who demonstrate leadership through
academic work, community involvement, and extracurricular activities.

Proficient in English.

While all candidates will have a strong interest in global environmental
issues, their fields of study might vary, and can include disciplines such
as Agriculture, Biology, Ecotourism, Environmental Law, Environmental
Science, Engineering, International Affairs, Public Policy, and Sustainable
Development.

IMPORTANT: Must have proven track of previous and current activities on
global environmental issues, included but not limited to those listed in
the program description, namely natural resource management, sustainable
development/sustainable agricultural practices, food security, ecotourism,
energy generation (new and traditional forms), and water management and
treatment.

Must demonstrate strong leadership qualities and potential in their
university and community activities related to the institute theme – global
environmental issues – including but not limited to those listed
in the program description.

Must demonstrate commitment to community and extracurricular university
activities related to the institute theme – global environmental issues-
including but not limited to those listed in the program description.

Ages between 18 – 25 years old.

Have at least one semester left of their undergraduate studies, and
therefore be committed to return to their home universities following
completion of the program.

Indicate a serious interest in learning about the United States.
Have a sustained high level of academic achievement, as indicated by
grades, awards, and teacher recommendations.

Have little or no prior study or travel experience in the United States or
elsewhere outside of their home country

Be mature, responsible, independent, confident, open-minded, tolerant,
thoughtful, and inquisitive;

Be willing and able to fully participate in an intensive academic program,
community service, and educational travel; and,

Be comfortable with campus life, prepared to share living accommodations,
and able to make adjustments to cultural and social practices different
from those of their home country.

Application Instructions

Applicants must submit a complete application form (Word document, 208KB)
and two letters of recommendation that should be attached to the
application form. One of the letters of recommendation must be from the
Head of Department.

Incomplete applications will not be considered for selection. All
information MUST be in English and clarify all acronyms.

Application package file MUST NOT exceed 1 Megabytes (MB) and application
form MUST be in Microsoft Word format.

Sending a CV alone is not adequate.

Please attach only the letters of recommendations and not certificates or

Job description:
position for one Junior Scientist (Doctoral candidate)

The project is a joint initiative of the Sustainability Research Center
of Bremen University (artec), the Institute for Advanced Study in the
Humanities (KWI) in Essen, the Leibniz Centre for Marine Tropical
Ecology (ZMT) in Bremen, and the Free University of Berlin. Starting
date for the three-year position is March 1st, 2014 or shortly
thereafter. The project consortium is funded by the Volkswagenstiftung
(Title of the project: New regional formations: Rapid environmental
change and migration in coastal regions of Ghana and Indonesia,
Programme: Key Issues for Research and Society).

The doctoral
candidate will focus on the dynamic migration systems in coastal regions
in the context of rapidly changing environmental conditions,
concentrating on empirical work in Ghana and Indonesia. The focus of
research is on the analysis of migration trajectories as part of
changing mobility regimes and international migration patterns.
Migration is thus conceived of as a spatial configuration, deeply rooted
in cultural practices and linked to global developments.

Condition of employment:
Applicants should have experience in migration research or substantial
knowledge about one of the two countries. They have to hold an MSc or
equivalent degree in geography, migration studies, anthropology or other
relevant fields of the social sciences.

Desirable:
Important prerequisites for applicants are the ability to work in a
team, good communication and writing skills in English, commitment for
the project, and willingness to work in an interdisciplinary and
international context.

outline of research interests and experience, a publication list (if
applicable), and the names and contact details of two potential

We invite applications for a fully funded three-year PhD studentship in Bilingualism at Bangor University to start from October 1st 2014 (or as soon as possible thereafter). The studentship is funded by the Wales ESRC Doctoral Training Centre. The successful applicant will work on the project entitled "Language and cognitive abilities in bilingual children and the role of the educational context" under the supervision of Dr. Vicky Chondrogianni (principal supervisor – School of Linguistics and English Language) and Dr. Enlli Thomas (second supervisor – School of Education).

Funding details: The studentship includes payment of UK/EU level tuition fees, a maintenance allowance of approximately £13,590 and an annual research allowance of approximately £750.

Saat ini saya sedang kuliah S1 di Istanbul Technical University jurusan Kimia Murni program irregular semester 1. Saya ingin bertanya mengenai beasiswa baik dari dalam negeri (Indonesia) atau luar negeri :

1. Adakah sejenis dana bantuan pendidikan yang diberikan yayasan atau perusahaan di Indonesia kepada mahasiswa Indonesia di berbagai negara? Mungkin bisa juga program yang memiliki kontrak.
2. Atau adakah international foundation yang memberikan bantuan seperti itu?

meskipun saya yakin next question-nya banyak dan setidaknya adalah:
* Top 50 versi siapa?
* Top 50 for overall courses atau subject based?
* Prosedur? eligibility? etc
But at least ini angin segar bagi dunia pendidikan kita, ya kan?? Informasi lebih lanjut, wait and see aja...

Hallo semua,

Saya mau menanyakan perihal pengajuan aplikasi pendaftaran postgraduate.
1. Ketika saya mencoba apply online postgraduate ke Nottingham Univ saya diminitai fee alias pembayaran sebagai syarat terakhir agar dokumen aplikasi yang saya ajukan dapat di proses. Di portalnya ada dua pilihan dengan yaitu dengan debit dan credit card. Karena saya belum punya credit card maka saya pilih debit. Di debit sendiri ada dua metode menggunakan visa / mastercard, nah permasalah muncul disini karena dua-duanya setelah saya coba selalu gagal. Saya sudah menggunakan kartu debit dari beberapa bank nasional yang berbeda. Adakah yang bisa memberi pencerahan atau mempunyai pengalaman seperti saya, mohon bisa berbagi cerita serta solusi?

2. Saya coba apply online program Erasmus Mundus Mastergeotech di upload dokumen selalu gagal. Padalah requirement sudah saya penuhi seperti meminta format pdf dan ukuran attachment yang tidak besar. Ada yang bisa sharing juga?

Selamat sore rekan - rekan, saya mau bertanya. Apakah diatara rekan
sekalian yang pernah apply monbukagakusho dengan surat keterangan lulus?

Contoh: Pendaftaran dibuka bulan april, sedangkan akan lulus pada bulan
oktober. Sehingga saat mendaftar menggunakan surat keterangan bahwa akan
lulus pada bulan oktober di tahun yang sama.
