600th Anniversary PhD Scholarships
The University of St Andrews was founded in 1413 making it Scotland's first university and the third oldest in the English-speaking world. Over the past six centuries it has established a reputation as one of Europe's leading and most distinctive centres for teaching and research. This is an historic moment for the University as we look back on six centuries of tradition and of belief in the value of people, ideas and excellence. It falls to the present generation to preserve these values for the generations to come.
As we stand on the threshold of our seventh century, the University is to invest in the future of the next generation of world-leading researchers by launching a new prestigious PhD scholarship scheme. These anniversary scholarships are available from September 2013 and comprise fees plus an annual stipend of up to £15,000 for three years. These scholarships are available across all the disciplines in the Arts & Humanities, Sciences, and Medicine. Up to 100 anniversary scholarships are available.
The scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic quality and research promise, and are open to all to apply. General advice on how to apply for a PhD place and how to be considered for an anniversary PhD scholarship can be sought from PG Admissions Office by emailing pgrecruitment@st-andrews.ac.uk .
Specific details on how to apply in a particular discipline may be obtained via the Director of Postgraduates for each School.

I am seeking a PhD student (m/f) to my group at the EE department, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Thuwal, Saudi Arabia. This is a full-time position that is fully funded for three years starting Sep. 1st, 2013. I am looking for a motivated and creative researcher with these specific qualifications:
1) Received a B.S. or M.S. in electrical engineering or related fields (such as mathematics or statistics), from reputable universities, with GPA of 3.75 or higher
2) Has very good communication (written/oral) and team-work skills
The candidate will be involved in projects in signal processing; communication, and/or information. The successful applicant will be involved in the publication of the research results obtained in the project including journal publications and conference presentations.

Rekan-rekan milis beasiswa, beberapa hari yang lalu, saya mendengar bahwa di Jepang sedang diadakan program global 30 yang di selenggarakan oleh pemerintah Jepang sebagai proyek untuk penerimaan Mahasiswa Internasional di jepang. Berita ini sangat menarik tentunya bagi mahasiswa yang berkeinginan untuk melanjutkan sekolahnya ke jepang, termasuk saya, sebagai mahasiswa tingkat akhir di universitas.
Saya mendengar bahwa program global 30 ini, hanya sebagai program yang mempermudah mahasiswa internasional untuk bisa belajar di beberapa universitas di jepang, dan program ini bukan beasiswa (mohon diperbaiki jika saya salah), namun bila kita mendaftar melalui program ini, maka di dalamnya terdapat beasiswa yang bisa kita ajukan.
Nah, berlanjut dari permasalahan tersebut, pertanyaan saya adalah :
1. Apakah beasiswa yang disediakan mengcover living allowance dan tuition fee secara full? apakah ada monthly stipendnya juga?
2. Bila tidak mengcover secara keseluruhan, apakah mahasiswa yg belajar disana diperbolehkan untuk bekerja sebagai tambahan untuk menutupi biaya hidup? (sebagaimanakita ketahui beasiswa monbusho tdk mbolehkan penerimanya utk bekerja sampingan)
3. bagaimana cara mengajukan aplikasi beasiswa? apakah setelah kita sampai di jepang lalu kemudian kita ajukan atau kah bisa diajukan saat dinegara asal?
mungkin itu saja pertanyaan saya, saya sangat berharap bila ada rekan-rekan milis yang mempunyai pengalaman kuliah di jepang dengan program global 30 dapat membantu menjawab persoalan ini.

Dear para milister beasiswa,
Perkenalkan, saya Fahmi Rizal. Saya berniat untuk melanjutkan studi saya di Jepang untuk studi master (bidang kimia) dengan beasiswa MEXT manbokagakusho). Sejauh ini, saya telah mengontak salah satu professor di Kyoto University dan beliau merespon positif tentang keinginan saya untuk menjadikannya supervisor di sana. Namun, masih ada kendala dalam proses untuk memperoleh LOA dari professor tersebut. Nah, yang ingin saya tanyakan ada beberapa poin:
1.bagaimana bahasa/permintaan yang tepat untuk meminta LOA dari professor tsbt? karena si professor menginginkan saya memperlihatkan referensi terkait keharusan adanya LOA.
2.terkait proses aplikasi U to U Monbukagakusho, apakah ada ujian exam sebelum masuk ke universitas di jepang?

Saya lulusan S1 Sastra Inggris, dan sedang memburu beasiswa Master. Saya berminat di study hubungan internasional sesuai dengan tempat bekerja saya sekarang. Namun saya sering di beberapa universitas ada yang menyediakan study Iternational Studies, ada juga yang International Relations.
Pertanyaan saya apakah ada perbedaan di kedua istilah tersebut? jika ya perbedaannya apa saja?
