Job Overview: An accredited international education and training solutions provider are expanding their successful Oil & Gas training programmes and require a Senior Technical Instructor for their mechanical engineering training program. You will be responsible for all aspects of your assigned Technical Programs, your designated training team, as well as developing departmental training materials for mechanical training. In this senior role, you will share your technical knowledge and be proactive in raising the awareness of good work practices, technologies and trends across your technical team of trainers. Applicants are invited with oil and gas experience, some mechanical training experience and the ability to lead and manage a training team. Working on a two year TAX FREE contract, the role offers great career prospects with the potential for extension.
The Company is a leading specialist's education and training provider. They design, develop and deliver training solutions for public and private sector clients internationally. They offer a wide range of vocational education and training capabilities with key capabilities spanning Technical and Vocational training, Leadership and Development training, further education and the management of Training Centers on behalf of their clients. Their Technical and Vocational training delivers accredited safety critical, technical and HS Training.
The Company is part of a Global Group who are specialist in Training and Development and have offices in 70+ countries and in excess of 45000 employees. They work across many business sectors including Oil and Gas. They are highly focused in the Middle East where they offer a wide range of vocational and development training programs. They have recently been awarded a five-year contract in Saudi Arabia to develop and operate three vocational colleges, providing high quality vocational skills and qualifications for in excess of 8,000 students. They are rapidly expanding their team to accommodate their growing demand.
Their mechanical training covers initial entry, operator and technician levels. It combines class room technical foundation training with on the job training at field based relevant facilities.
Responsibilities: Reporting to the Training Manager, this role encompasses many functions including:
- Lead the development of the training department and on-going maintenance of all mechanical training programs, course materials (theoretical and practical), procedures and assessments to Client and Awarding Body standards.
- Internally verify trainee portfolio's to the agreed External Verifier and Awarding Body standards.
- Support the training, development and certification of staff training as NVQ Assessors and Verifiers.
- Ensure that all mechanical programs you are responsible for maintain accreditation, as per Client and Awarding standards.
- Work closely with the Technical Coordinator and Quality Assurance Manager, develop, implement and maintain a suitable Internal Verification and Quality Assurance system to meet their approval and Awarding Body requirements.
- Develop, implement and maintain policies and procedures to ensure Quality Control is managed professionally and effectively.
- Assist the Technical Coordinator in selecting and recruiting a suitable team of technical trainers and technicians.
- Effectively manage the team of Instructors, Technicians and support Staff to include the development, coaching and training as well as management of teaching and assessment schedules.
- Deliver training as and when required.
- Compile daily, weekly and monthly Technical Training reports.
- Partake actively in meetings with the client and Service Company's in the United Kingdom to develop courses and deliver training programmes that best meet individual client business requirements.
- Keep abreast with technology and industry developments and proactively suggest improvements for the training programs.
- Ensure that the equipment in workshops and laboratories are suitable and adequate in number to complement the training and assessment.
- Uphold the Company Health and Safety and Quality Policies.
Preferences: The successful candidate will have:
- A technical/engineering diploma in a relevant subject essential. A degree in training/education/management/engineering highly desired.
- Oil and gas industry experience essential.
- Previous experience in delivering mechanical training course essential.
- Fluency in English both written and verbal essential.
- English Training Centre Management experience essential.
- A strong appreciation of Health and Safety Regulations essential.
- Curriculum and test development experience highly advantageous.
- Highly articulate and with the ability to converse and demonstrate coherently the value proposition of well-designed training programs.
- Strong people management skills; able to motivate, coach and assist your training team, conduct appraisals, develop and manage teaching, training and assessment schedules, in line with the approved curriculum.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the personality and confidence to build strong relationships at all levels both internally and with the Client.
- Assessor/Verifier qualifications advantageous.
- Good overall IT, presentation, communications and report writing skills. Ability to provide Technical Training reports.
- Efficient time management highly organised with excellent co ordination.
- Previous experience of working in the Middle East advantageous.
Package: A TAX FREE Base Salary of Circa $120,000 – Per Annum plus Company benefits is on offer dependent on skills and experience. Benefits include flights, company car, health insurance etc.
