ACEH HEALTHY SCHOOL PROGRAM MANAGER (based in Takengon)
The Program Manager will be a member of the Mercy Corps Aceh management team and participate in strategic decision making, proposal writing, and donor relations. S/he will also be a key member of the Indonesia-wide health team and contribute to Mercy Corps' expansion of the healthy schools initiative into other parts of Indonesia.
Program/Department Summary:
MercyCorps is implementing a Program (AHSP – Aceh Healthy Schools Program) running in AcehProvince, namely: Benar Meriah and Aceh Tenggah. AHSP main target is addressing the problem of anemia in 200 schools, approximately 20,000 beneficiaries (students of elementary schools only).
The strategy MercyCorps is using to fight anemia is the following:
* Distribution of FSM (helps students to recover from anemia in the short period).

BACK GROUND
The
German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) and Munich Re entered into a Public
Private Partnership (PPP) agreement for the joint promotion of
microinsurance against catastrophic risks in Indonesia. On the basis of a need assessment and feasibility study on disaster microinsurance conducted in 2007 both organizations decided
to start with the development of a flood product to be offered in
Jakarta.
One major challenge in this project is the fact that
the target market for insurance products often lacks familiarity with
the concept of insurance and its utility as a risk management tool.
To overcome this challenge, the PPP stakeholders have agreed on the
implementation of an awareness raising campaign on microinsurance as a
risk management tool. This task is assigned to GTZ as the development
cooperation partner within the PPP.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Under
the direct supervision of GTZ ProFI staff working on the implementation
of the PPP, facilitators will perform the following duties :
1. Organizing the preparation and implementation of the microinsurance
awareness campaign, incl. the close coordination with the contact
persons in the pilot area. The data base of the contact person will be provided by ProFI;
1. Delivering the Microinsurance awareness raising sessions and submitting an evaluation report after each session.
1. Contributing to the continuous evaluation of the microinsurance
awareness campaign conducted by ProFI to ensure the improvement of the
awareness raising sessions, used materials and the adaptation of its
training methodology in coordination with ProFI as seen necessary.
EDUCATION :
University degree and / or courses for trainers/facilitators.
EXPERIENCE :
2 years experience as trainer/facilitator. Experience in facilitating microinsurance training will be a plus.

Excellent command of Bahasa Indonesia and English
