PROPOSAL DEADLINE: DECEMBER 4, 2012, 11:59 PM (U.S. EASTERN STANDARD TIME.
Funding: Up to $110,000 per year for up to three years.

"The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the National Sciences Foundation (NSF) are working together to support the second cycle of Partnerships for Enhanced Engagement in Research (PEER) Science. PEER Science is a competitive grants program that invites scientists in developing countries to apply for funds to support research and capacity-building activities on topics of importance to USAID and conducted in partnership with their NSF-funded collaborators.

Indonesia: PEER Science is seeking research projects that support the goals and objectives of USAID/Indonesia as outlined in the mission's Country Strategy (http://indonesia.usaid.gov/en/home). Projects should also contribute to USAID/Indonesia's higher education objectives by achieving one or more of the following:

1. Improved instructional delivery through better teaching methods and more relevant curricula in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) field;

2. Enhanced research skills and methods in a STEM field; and

3. New and/or strengthened partnerships between Indonesian and U.S.-based researchers.
 
USAID/Indonesia is particularly interested in projects that involve other external stakeholders such as private sector partners as well as projects that have the potential to inform government policy at the national or local level. 
 

Budget requests should be developed commensurate with the support needed to achieve the project goals. Most projects are anticipated to run for one to three years, with release of each funding increment contingent on the project meeting annual financial and technical reporting requirements. The number of PEER Science awards is subject to the availability of funds.
 
Single institution awards are anticipated to range in size from $30,000 to $60,000 per year for one to three years. A few larger and more complex projects (those involving multiple institutions and/or multiple countries, with one of them serving as the lead) may receive up to $110,000 per year for up to three years. Applicants whose funding requests do not fit within these parameters are encouraged to contact PEER Science staff at the National Academies (peer@nas.edu) before preparing their proposals. When preparing their PEER Science proposal budgets, applicants should keep in mind that requested funds may be used only to support costs for developing country researchers and institutions.

An
opportunity exists for a PhD student to contribute to an Australian Research
Council funded Linkage Project on Integrating Measures of Indigenous Land
Management Performance. We are seeking a PhD candidate to join a
multi-disciplinary team across the University of Queensland, Charles Darwin
University and research partners from The Nature Conservancy, Department of
Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities, The North
Australian Indigenous Land and Sea Management Alliance, CSIRO (Sustainable
Ecosystems) and Smyth and Bahrdt Consultants. The student will be enrolled at
the University of Queensland with co-supervision through Charles Darwin
University and CSIRO.
The
School of Geography, Planning and Environmental Management was formed at the
beginning of 2009 as part of UQ's Science Faculty, bringing together expertise
that centres on the theme of sustainability. The School is grounded in the
established disciplines of Geography, Planning and Environmental Management. It
is integrated through a common focus on the people-environment-behaviour
interface and by a commitment to scientific, evidence-based approaches. 
The School recognises the importance of being engaged with the community,
industry and government and globally focussed.
The role
A PhD
student is sought to study the social, cultural and environmental benefits of
Indigenous management of and participation in protected area management. This
project will build on the internationally adopted Framework for Assessing
Management Effectiveness of Protected Areas, working under the direction of the
Framework's author to expand its remit to better address social performance.
The project will require a review of social policy relating to communities
engaged with protected areas, an integration of the theoretical underpinnings
of social and protected area policies, and substantial interaction with and
contribution the development of international guidelines on integration of
social and environmental assessment of protected area management effectiveness.
The research will form part of the Australian Research Council project:
Integrating measures of Indigenous land management effectiveness.
The person
You
should have an Honours degree or Masters Degree with substantial research
component, or equivalent in environmental management, social science or related
discipline. It is essential that you can clearly demonstrate research
potential. An interest in high quality research leading to practice or policy
outcomes is desirable. Experience in indigenous land management, conservation,
protected areas, interdisciplinary approaches to environmental management or
social aspects of conservation will be well regarded.
Remuneration
Tax-free
stipends of $28,715 per annum are available for three years, with the
possibility of a six month extension.

halo semuanya, terima kasih atas sharing informasinya. saya kemarin sudah mendapatkan kontrak dari pt austraining, ternyata skenarionya sama seperti biasa, postgraduate dulu, kalau dapat B baru otomatis ke master, mungkin kemarin pihak pemberi beasiswanya cuma menyampaikan informasi sepotong2 saja :)

Saya Elina, saya berencana melamar beasiswa EM. tapi nilai iBT toefl saya msh di bawah dari syarat yang ditentukan, dan saya menjadwalakn tes iBT tanggal 2 Desember,sedangkan dateline aplikasi EMnya tgl 28 November via online. Di keterangan consortiumnya, nilai toefl boleh disusulkan apabila berniat mengambil tes dulu, sertakan saja dulu official register dari tesnya..Menurut pengalaman teman-teman,,sebaiknya saya mengirimkan nilai toefl saya yg sekarang (yg belum melewati batas syarat) ataukah saya kirimkan official register untuk tes tgl 2 Desember dan menyusulkan hasilnya kemudian..?

Mau tanya mungkin diantara rekan2 punya pengalaman dan jawabanbagi pertanyaan saya sbb:
Ada saudara kami yg udah beberapa bulan tinggal di Jepang (visiting family) ingin melanjutkan sekolah S2/S3 di Jepang. Namun sepengetaun saya beasiswa yg populer di Jepang adalah beasiswa mambusho/dikti dimana salah syaratnya harus dosen di PT/PTN. Dan jalur mambusho G to G pun katanya lebih diprioritaskan bagi mereka yg staff.CMIIW. Sementara beasiswa2 swasta di Jepang sendiri makin sedikit dan juga sangat sulit ditembus oleh warga non-jepang.
Nah, ada ga beasiswa2 lain untuk sekolah di Jepang yang apply-nya di Jepang untuk bukan staff dosen PT/PTN? Mohon sharingnya bagi rekan2 yg punya pengalaman yg serupa.
